    Tightening up your Vott's

I found this nice little .pdf that Jim Dickinson put together from 1989 and thought maybe it could help some DIY's who are building new VOTT's..

i guess i've done everything on the list with the cabinets i bought off the DJ from trinidad. 515Gs, bracing, foamed horn flanges, 902 8Ts (could use a pair of pascalites), wings.

So, how come my early two piece backed 825 cabinets in my A7-500's are made from 3/4" plywood and not 5/8" as mentioned in the article?

Little details and facts are not important to him. Be sure to count your fingers if you shake his hand.

Well let's face it a lot of these cabinets have been built by contractors and not at the Altec factory. Most of the cabinets that I have seen built by Altec come with serial numbers. Whether on paper decal, stamped on the wood, or on a metal plate. If yours has none chances are they are home-brew.Yeah I know the paper decal could have fallen off.

Not sure where the cut-off date is, but the genuine earlier cabinets i have seen had union labels on them.

First hand experience AB. Let's not air it here. Please delete/edit the post if you feel it inappropriate. I stand behind my words and still possess the botched 604's as evidence.

Altec was a union shop. Later they were moved to OKC and the University facilty not sure about those. 70's MI cabs were 3/4' for sure. Got some straight from Altec, some assembly required, cabs shipped OKC and components from California.
